Happy birthday to me!

  • Dec. 17th, 2009 at 9:04 AM
As the title implies, today is my birthday. Unlike some people I know, *cough*Yami*cough*, I don't mind saying how old I am. I'm 48. Hubby's birthday card to me is sitting in Tytania's arms. (Tytania is the fairy doll.) My gifts are wrapped and sitting under the tree waiting for hubby's return for me to open. I know one of them is a new doll. I know this from the box shape and because I picked her out a couple of months ago. (I've forgotten what she looks like though, so she'll still be a surprise. LOL) The other gifts are likely to be artbooks. I know hubby went a little crazy buying artbooks at Nekocon. I know some of what he got then but not all. I'm curious to see what books are hiding within the pretty paper.

Tonight, we'll go to Ghent for dinner. Ghent is a section of a neighboring city that's known for its artsy eclectic atmosphere. Ghent has some of our favorite "special night out" restaurants.

Before that though, I have an appointment at the hairdresser to have my hair highlighted again. Too many gray hairs have been seen in the mirror lately. I may not mind admitting that I'm 48 years old. But that doesn't mean I like looking like I'm 48. :D

The Muppets meet Queen. The result? Pure rhapsody.

*grumps* a lot while procrastinating

I am tremendously worried/anxious/angry/disappointed/disbelieving/annoyed that my university has managed to lose my tuition cheque. I do not want to pay it again, even though it doesn't appear to have been cashed in. I do not want to pay penalty fees for something that was not my mistake. The system that shows how much the student owes in fees each semester cleared my account the day after I dropped the cheque off at the university in the usual area for payments. And there has been no trouble from me using that method before.

But they probably won't believe me and I'll have to pay again and be charged a penalty and then the bank will get both cheques and I'll be out double the money.

(Unfortunately, I am obsessed about worrying about my financial state more so than my peers when I don't have to. I blame my father completely. Damn gambler. Always wasting money. Always!)

*returns to writing up work-report and updating resume with an angry scowl*
